What is Tegress?
Tegress™ is a urethral implant for women with stress urinary incontinence (SUI). It is a non-invasive done in the office, requiring no recovery time. The implant is made up of a liquid called Ethylene Vinyl Alcohol copolymer (EVOH) in a Dimethyl Sulfoxide (DMSO). The solution is injected into each side of the urethra. The appointment time will take about one hour, however the actual injections will take about six minutes total. The solution is considered a bulking agent, which upon being injected into the urethra, will expand and harden into a kind of plastic. This makes the urethra smaller, thus improving complications that arise with SUI. The Tegress procedure was very successful in clinical trials. More than 70% of patients who received the implants reported improved lifestyle conditions. The material is extremely durable, and will not break down, or become absorbed into tissue over time. It requires only local anesthesia, and no more than one ml of the implant solution per side. You may need a second session of implants depending on how much improvement you notice after the procedure.

The greatest aspect of the Tegress™ procedure is that you can potentially avoid surgery and still alleviate SUI. The implant is approved by the FDA, and there is little to no recovery time. Most people are able to return to their daily activities the same day they receive the implants. |
