Your First OB Visit

Congratulations! You're pregnant! Now what happens?

Your first step will be calling our office and talking with our OB Interview nurse. After talking with her over the phone, you will be transferred to the front desk to schedule your OB Interview and OB Physical. During your interview, the nurse will talk with you more extensively about your pregnancy. She will discuss topics such as prenatal vitamins and breastfeeding. She will also order prenatal blood work, which you will have drawn at a medical lab after your appointment. The appointment takes about half an hour, and is required regardless of whether or not this is your first pregnancy.

Your first appointment with your doctor is known as your OB Physical. This appointment is scheduled based on the last date of your menstrual period, or LMP. You will see the doctor between 10-12 weeks of your pregnancy. During this appointment, you will receive a physical exam and a pap smear. Your due date will also be established. You may discuss any questions you have with your doctor at any time during your pregnancy.
